The desire to protect vehicle passengers and other road users as effectively as possible has driven tremendous development in recent years, particularly in the field of safety systems. This is amplified by legislation and other recognized assessment criteria, such as the tests by Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme).
Therefore, vehicles are increasingly equipped with active or pre-crash safety systems. These complex systems use data from in- and outside the vehicle at high speeds to reduce the chances of impact. Lane departure warning, automatic braking, crash avoidance manoeuvres and other intervention protocols need to be tested and validated thoroughly and accurately.
This requires fast software, deep understanding of vehicle and tyre dynamics and experience with occupant behaviour.
